It has been busy at Slek since the June release notes.
We have not one but two big new features 💥 that we hope you are going to like:
- training squads, and
- a graphical builder for guided workouts that has nothing to envy the best interfaces out there.
Let us look straight away at what they change for your training.
1 - Training squads 👥
Until now Slek offered individual coaching: one coach, one athlete, complete monitoring. That is perfect for personal support, but far too heavy for a club that simply wants to send Tuesday night’s workout to its members, or for three friends who train together.
And since we like clubs and training together, we now offer training squads. The principle fits in one sentence:
the squad’s coaches plan workouts and offer them to every member, without ever seeing anybody’s training data
You create a squad in Settings > Coaching and members join it with a share link that you pass around however you like: email, the club’s WhatsApp group, anything.
Joining or coaching a squad is free. It is creating one that requires a Premium subscription, and the squad stays active as long as it has at least one Premium coach. If that stops being the case, a banner warns you, and naming a Premium member as coach gets you going again.
For the coach: one more profile
The squad appears in the profile selector, next to your athletes.

Switch to it and you are in planning mode: the squad’s calendar, its season plan and your library. The rest of the app is greyed out, since a squad coach never reads their members’ data.
For the member: “Join” or not
A squad workout does not land in your calendar automatically: it arrives as an invitation. It is up to you (or your individual coach) to accept it or not.

After that, if you have a Premium subscription, your coach can individualize and analyse your squad workouts.
A club can therefore offer group workouts to everybody while still following a few athletes individually (juniors, elites and so on).
2 - Build your guided workouts with the mouse… 🎯
Since 2025, a guided workout has been written in double brackets in the description, along the lines of ((2x 10x 30/30 R2)), and sent to your athlete’s watch. It is very quick, but it is limited to effort and recovery durations: no targets, no distances.
Now there is a graphical builder, and its principle fits in one gesture: every building block of a workout is a block you grab and drop into the chart. Warm-up, effort, recovery, ramp, repeated block, cool-down.

Click a bar in the chart and you can set whatever parameters you want (duration, distance, and above all its target as a % VMA, % max HR, % LT2 HR, % FTP and so on, or even in RPE). Each step can end on the LAP button rather than at a duration or a distance, which suits an open-ended warm-up or a set of track laps.
… or with the keyboard, if that is faster for you
The graphical builder does nothing more than write text in the description, between the same ((...)) as before. So if you prefer the keyboard, an advanced guide is simply a block spread over several lines. For example:
((
Warmup
- 2km 70-75% pace
- 2km 75-80% pace
Corps 2x
- 6km 90-92% pace
- 2km 75-80% pace
Cooldown
- 2km 72-76% pace
))
… gives you exactly this in the builder:

The two modes stay in sync: start with the mouse, finish with the keyboard, or the other way round. Everything about the text mode syntax is in the documentation.
3 - Other improvements, in no particular order
🔌 When a watch drops off, Slek tells you
A connection to Garmin, Suunto, Coros, Polar, Strava, Wahoo or Hammerhead can die: a changed password, a revoked authorisation, an app withdrawn on the partner’s side. Until now, activities simply stopped arriving with no warning. Slek now detects it, sends you a notification and shows a banner in the app.
⌚ A bit of tidying up on your watch
A guided workout sent to your watch is now deleted automatically a week after its date, so that months of old workouts do not pile up on your device.
